D6 Backstage {Dennis Rainey}
Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:10AM i appreciated the time Dennis gave to answer my questions, and his conviction for his unique ministry is clear. but, you know how i feel, right? women have more to do than support their husbands. women are gifted to lead in the church. and, i'm hopeful that someday we'll see more conference sessions that encourage women to lead strong for the sake of the family & the church.

Good interview, Amy... And I also enjoyed the link over to how you feel about women and the church. Thanks for sharing both!
What a great interview friend. Of course I find this topic interesting being the mom of 3 boys. What was your takeaway from his message later that night? Thanks for sharing!
As a wife, mom, and ministry leader (co-leading our church's special needs ministry with my husband), I think there's a middle ground. I can lead strongly in my family while still submitting to my husband. I can lead strongly in the church, while doing so while submitting to the leadership of our pastors (all male, given our denomination's biblical understanding of gender roles, which I support and agree with). I want men to step up and be strong in families (including my own) and churches (once again, including my own), because I think that enables female leaders like myself to lead strongly with them.
I guess I'm saying that I agree with Rainey to a point and with you to a point. For example, I wish he had, knowing your background in children's ministry, acknowledged that it's not just us moms who shape our boys' and girls' perspectives about masculinity - you and other women and men involved in children's ministry are coming alongside us to do that too. (For which I am VERY thankful!)
Great interview! I agree that women need to be intentionally empowered to lead in any role that God calls them into, while at the same time believing that our boys need to be encouraged to seek Godly masculinity. You're exactly right that the women in the church play vital roles in making this happen.
These video interviews are great! I think I'm going to plagarize the idea!
